Sunday Sonnet [Alternatively Rhymed], #6, 2016

A day begun in silence, woken by

warmth of sun creeping round the curtains, light

embracing skin, nestled in pillows; shy

yet persistent.  Feet touch floor, fall from height

of bed to seek steps downstairs, find what might

add company to the peaceful scene by

a singular button: one press and light

voices fill the house.  Conversation, why,

music too.  Never alone; soundtrack for

the single.  Her companion chatters as

she sets the coffee to perk, newspaper

is spread to favoured parts, and blinds raised for

full view of sun.  Serene, days like this.  As

choir sings, her soul floats up to join in.
